Nusa Lembongan is Bali’s little neighbor sitting across the Badung Strait and represents, for many, Bali’s top diving destination.
Lembongan Island is a smaller more laid-back version of Bali. You don’t need to worry about traffic jams or thronged, narrow streets here. Instead you can get a feel for how Bali was decades ago, with a relaxed, easy atmosphere, making it the perfect holiday destination to unwind.
There are many reasons to stay in Lembongan and dive the surrounding area. These include fields of pristine coral, manta rays and beautiful drift dives, but the main drawcard is the chance to dive with mola mola.
The dive site is located in front of the Mangrove between Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan. The Mangrove plays a crucial part in the local ecosystem and provides plenty of nutrients to one of the healthiest coral reefs in whole Nusa Penida.
A gentle descending slope, between 10-25 meters deep, is completely covered by all types of coral and is home for an amazing diversity of marine life. As you drift along the reef, an extraordinary underwater show will unfold with plenty of marine life action going on.
Good luck keeping up with it all! Mangrove dive site is suitable for all levels of certification and its one of the best snorkeling spots in whole Nusa Penida region.
In season, meaning July to September, you can dive with the amazing sunfish at various sites around Nusa Penida and Lembongan. Coming close to these big, weird-looking creatures is something you won’t forget.
Small island about 20 Km East of Bali, the north coastal coral reef (Blue Corner) is hit by strong currents and attracts many large fish.
iIt is definitely one of Bali’s most challenging dive sites and probably one of the most difficult dive sites in the world.
Only divers with at least 100 dives and extensive experience of diving in current should dive here at certain times only. The Mangrove dive site on the East side of the island may be an easier alternative when the tide is strong.
40 minutes by past boat from Benoa Tirta Harum to the 2 different dive sites on the north coast of Nusa Lembongan.
Coral Reef State:
Very good varieties and numbers of hard and soft corals, most spots totally undamaged.
Best variety of tropical reef fish in Bali, possible to see most of south east Asia’s marine species in only one dive, very often seeing big pelagic species such as giant tuna, manta ray, oceanic sun fish ( mola-mola), marble rays and sharks (thresher shark).
Strong and very strong depending on the moon (mostly drift dives). Blue Corner has whirlpools. Not for the light-hearted.
25m to 40m, best place in Bali, Stable even in rainy season.
This dive site is only dived when the conditions are right and the right divers are present. If your dive guide recommends that you don’t dive it, please don’t insist and put yourself as well as us in a dangerous situation.
Some of the best dive site in Bali. Strong currents attract all the big fish. An action- packed dive that is not for everyone.
